Tsiali Georgian Choir

TSIALI (tsee-ah-lee) is a Bristol-based choir specialising in songs from the Republic of Georgia. Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, is one of Bristol’s lesser-known twin cities. The country nestles beneath the Caucasus Mountains and its mesmerising, ages-old, polyphonic singing tradition has been recognised by UNESCO.Song is integral to most aspects of Georgian life including work, weddings, story-telling, feasting, the soothing of sick children, and religious rituals. Our members have sung with other choirs but Georgian music, with its unique chords and harmonies, has touched our souls. We hope our audiences will feel the same.Tsiali Choir will share a range of songs: ancient harmonies from tiny chapels in the Caucasus Mountains, to rousing wedding songs that we hope will get everyone joining in. We feel proud to honour Tbilisi, one of Bristol’s lesser-known twin cities, and to share some of Georgia’s captivating music.
