Bristol Harbour Festival

Access Information

The festival is based around Bristol’s Harbourside. Surfaces are a mix of hard-standing, permanent roads (including cobbles), and grass in Queen Square. There are steps and kerbs see the festival site map below for more details.

Toilets

Accessible toilets are located at every toilet block throughout the festival site.

There will be changing place toilets located in Millennium Square, the M Shed and in Cabot Circus.

British Sign Language

Interpreters will be located on the Circus Playground All interpreters have met the criteria to register as full members of NRCDP/ASLI/VLP.

Parking

Blue Badge holders may park in any on-street pay & display bay or council-owned car park without payment of parking charges in accordance with the terms of use for their blue badges.

Blue Badge holders may also park for free in any pay & display, limited waiting bays or permit holder bays.

Accessible viewing areas

There is a raised viewing area for customers with access requirements in Queen Square. This will be stewarded and run on a first come first serve basis. Limited seating will be available. Access to the viewing platform is for customers with permanent disabilities plus one accompanying person only.

Customers with temporary injuries, broken bones and pregnant ladies cannot be given access to this area.

There are also ground-level viewing areas at the Circus Playground and in Lloyds Amphitheatre.

Please bring a copy or have a photo on your phone of a form of supporting documentation that confirms your name & access requirement to show to the stewards managing these areas.


Strobe Lighting/Effects

Please be aware that strobe lighting, lasers, smoke machines, or other special effects may be used as part of some act’s performances on the Queen Square Stage.

Mobility scooters

Bristol Shopmobility is based in Cabot Circus car park approximately 0.7 miles from Queen Square. It hires out a mixture of equipment including electric scooters and manual wheelchairs. Break out and quiet space

M Shed will be offering Harbour Festival visitors with ASD a safe and calm space on the top floor of the building to use. This will be open 10 am - 5 pm over the weekend.

If you are planning to cover the whole site or just concentrate on one or two areas, the following distance may help in planning your day:

Main routes:

Queen Square to Brunel’s ss Great Britain: 0.63 miles; approx. 15 minutes

Queen Square to Millennium Square: 0.53 miles; approx. 10 minutes

Queen Square to College Green: 0.4miles - Approx 8 minutes

Queen Square to Cathedral Walk: 0.5 miles; approx. 10 minutes

Millennium Square to Brunel’s ss Great Britain: 0.64 miles; approx. 10 minutes via ferry

Temple Meads Train Station to:

Queen Square: 0.68 miles; approx. 15 minutes

Brunel’s SS Great Britain: 1.22 miles; approx. 25 minutes

Millennium Square: 1.22 miles; approx. 20 minutes
