Jacobs Wells Baths presents Light Henge by Squidsoup, an immersive light and sound experience set within the repurposed Pump Room of the historic Victorian baths.
For one weekend only, this revitalised heritage landmark hosts an evolving installation designed for small groups and personal encounters. Known as pioneers in light, sound and technology-based art, Squidsoup bring a new work that combines a circular formation of towering light columns with an expansive, atmospheric soundscape. Together, these elements create a shifting environment that moves between awe and intimacy, exploring scale, connection and our relationship to the natural world.
Millions have experienced Squidsoup’s work across six continents, from Burning Man to Alexandra Palace. Light Henge continues this legacy, inviting audiences to move freely through the space at their own pace, discovering a deeply personal interaction with both the artwork and the building itself.
Set in the Pump Room, the original heart of the baths, where boilers once heated natural spring water, the installation draws on the site’s history while reimagining its future.
Curated by Trinity Community Arts as part of its Art of the Possible series, this event is part of the Bristol Harbour Festival Fringe. It is one of a limited number of public moments during the site’s restoration, ahead of its transformation into a major, citizen-powered cultural space opening in 2029.
