Join City of Bristol Rowing Club during this year's Harbour Festival for a special Boat Naming Ceremony, celebrating both the traditions of rowing and the people and culture that make Bristol unique. Boat naming is a long-standing tradition in rowing clubs around the world. More than simply giving a boat an identity, a naming ceremony marks the beginning of a vessel's life on the water and provides an opportunity to recognise the stories, values, and individuals that shape a club's community. This year, the City of Bristol Rowing Club will officially name five new boats. Two of these boats will be named in honour of former club members whose dedication, generosity, and countless volunteer hours helped build and strengthen our club community. Their contributions have left a lasting legacy, and these boats will carry their names for future generations of rowers to remember and celebrate. The remaining three boats will be named after iconic Bristol phrases, reflecting the city's distinctive character, humour, and local identity. These names celebrate the spirit of Bristol and the connection between the club and the city we are proud to call home. The names will be revealed for the first time during the ceremony, bringing together club members, friends, families, and Harbour Festival visitors to share in this special occasion. Whether you're a lifelong rower or discovering the sport for the first time, we invite you to join us as we celebrate tradition, community, and the next chapter in the story of the City of Bristol Rowing Club.
