Bristol Breakers present a high-energy Breaking/Breakdance performance based in the city’s strong street culture. The performance will host local talent from across Bristol, the biggest hub of Breaking culture in the South West, bringing together diverse dancers connected through hip hop, community and a shared passion for movement, music and expression.
Blending dynamic and freestyle choreography, each set will show the foundations of Breaking, while keeping the raw, improvisational spirit that defines the culture. The performance is designed not only to entertain, but to open up the world of Breaking to new audiences in an accessible and engaging way.
Led by Reuben Kamaal (Bristol-Based MC) as host and Sebastian Morales Castillo as facilitator, the show invites the crowd into the culture, offering live commentary, context and interaction throughout. Audiences can expect moments of call and response, playful competition and an introduction to how dance battles work, including the structure, etiquette and creative exchange between dancers.
This work will be part of the Twin Cities Takeover, considering that Bristol Breakers is built through members of multiple nationalities and identities, the group reflects strong cultural bonds between Bristol and its twin cities, with dancers actively engaging in global exchanges and competitions
Performances celebrate inclusivity, creativity and cultural exchange, creating a welcoming space where audiences of all ages can connect with hip hop culture.
This is a lively, family-friendly performance that combines skill, storytelling and crowd engagement, bringing the spirit of the street into the heart of the festival.
