Ceilidh Dance with Mr Medler and the Mad March Hare Ceilidh Band

Ceilidh dance brings people together in a way, which breaks down the usual social barriers. Cultural background, age, gender…and yes, even sometimes men dance with men! ‘Pop up’ Ceilidhs like the dances we’ve previously held at the Harbour Festival only help to increase the diversity of the dancers, and for those not wanting, or not able to dance, it still provides a spectacle and a chance to see how a diverse group of people can come together and have fun.

Tell us what you think

The guys behind the trial want to know what you think.  When you access the 360° footage, you’ll be asked to complete a short survey, with the chance to enter a prize draw for a free Balloon Flight courtesy of Destination Bristol.

Find out more

To find out more about Smart Futures and meet the tech experts behind the project, come to the Smart Futures Tent at the Millennium Square.

At the Smart Futures tent, the tech guys can help you get online to view the 360° footage and try out VR headsets too.

II. About Smart Futures.

This 360° trial is brought to you as part of the £8.2m ‘5G Smart Tourism’ Project, funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport’s 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme.  The project, led by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), explores how tourism operators in the West of England can use 5G technology to boost the growing visitor economy and provides insights into the University of Bristol’s 5GUK Test Network performance, as it is trialling the technology’s performance at scale.

It brings together West of England Combined Authority; University of Bristol’s Smart Internet Lab; Bristol Futures Global; Digital Catapult; Zeetta Networks; Mativision; Bristol City Council; Bristol Is Open; Destination Bristol and Bristol Harbour Festival.
