On any normal weekend Bristol's floating harbour, with its colourful ferries and resident ships The Matthew and SS Great Britain, is a lovely sight. Bristol Harbour Festival, however, is no normal weekend.
A brand new feature for this year will be the Power8 Sprints, 350m high octane rowing action that will be the headline act on the water at the annual Bristol Harbour Festival. The usual sights and sounds of the waterway will once again be complemented by plenty of elegant visiting vessels and the bunting and masts of the Festival Fleet.
The Etoile Molene, Iris and Irene will be among the stars of the show - these stylish restored beauties are always a wonderful sight. The Royal Navy will also make a welcome visit, bringing their Archer (P2000) Fast Training Boat for the crowds to enjoy.
The Western Boat Show will make a welcome return to the Harbour Festival, displaying a great selection of new and used boats for offshore and inland use, and there will be plenty of on-water displays to entertain the crowds lining the docksides, including those hairy heroes the Newfoundland Dogs and the annual cardboard boat race and the young shipwrights contest.
