Ashley Russell
Dance Stage
Ashley attained his BA in dance and choreography in Arnhem, Holland and went onto to choreograph there for four years. Out of a need to deepen his understanding of the body, he went to New York City to train with one of the leading teachers in gyrotonic, and was subsequently asked to manage a teacher-training facility there.
During this time Ashley did an internship with the Limon Dance Company, working under the executive director at that time, and developed a passion for dance management and making things happen.
Since returning to Bristol Ashley has been an advocate for dance in the city, working for the city council to bring world-class artists to teach and perform in the region. After programming the hugely successful Dance Village 08, Ashley has been asked once again to present the biggest dance event in the South West’s calendar.
Ashley lives with his partner Adam and Bruno the dog.
