Circus Stage

The hugely popular Circus Stage moves to a fantastic new setting. Bristol’s very own Cirque Bijou - one of the UK’s leading circus and street theatre companies - bring their inimitable and infectious style to the festival once again with a show that will amaze and amuse. Highlights include:

The fantastic Mario Queen of the Circus - star of the internationally acclaimed cabaret show ‘La Clique’, street theatre performer extraordinaire and undoubtedly the biggest fan of Queen the world has ever seen

Reuben DotDotDot - the stupendous hand-balancing and Chinese pole from ex-Cirque du Soleil acrobat, hailing all the way from Australia via some rigorous training in one of China’s best circus academies

Suspension of Disbelief - this beautiful and dramatic trapeze duo show off their homegrown talent. Bristol-based Jamie and Nicky have performed across the world and we are pleased to welcome them to the Harbour Festival

The Notorious Balloon Toss - one of Britain’s premier outdoor arts companies, the Desperate Men, put on a show that’s full to the brim with thrills, spills and some super prizes

PanGottic Circus-Theatre - dynamic physical comedy from this up-and-coming Bristol company, mixing a unique blend of contemporary clowning, physical theatre, mask and new circus

Children’s Area

Catering for all ages, from toddlers to young teens, the Children’s Area offers a vibrant, exciting and creative area for children and their families. Programmed by the team behind the Shambala Festival and funded by the Council’s Youth & Play Services, it offers activities galore for children aged 0-9 with workshops, activities, entertainment and learning opportunities.

Highlights include: a crazy golf course, trampolines, a new wild play area, inflatafun, a climbing wall, live shows, a workshop marquee, BMX track and the Playbus.

An exciting visiting attraction this year is the Tate Movie project, an animated movie project for primary schools created by Tate Galleries and Aardman Animation. The project will lead to the production of an animated film made by and for children, which will be shown in cinemas around the UK as part of the London 2012 Olympics.
